StackOne

setting up for Series A

Industry: SaaS / iPaaS

Stage: Seed → Series A

Team: ~ 40 people

Presence: Global (UK HQ)

Engagement: May 2024 - Present

Achievements: Series A (May 2025)

THE CHALLENGE

StackOne is an integration platform that provides SaaS vendors a single API to connect with the tools their customers are using — a universal interface for enterprise-grade integrations, supported by AI agent builders.

Romain and the team had recently raised a Seed round and needed to professionalise their finance function and improve their reporting capabilities ahead of a Series A raise. The challenge: they weren't getting the support they needed from existing accountants as they continued to scale.

WHAT WE DID

Once introduced, we worked with StackOne to implement foundational systems and processes that would support their growth trajectory and fundraising goals.

Key areas of support included:

  • Setting up an expense management platform (Moss) with comprehensive AP/AR policies
  • Implementing ApprovalMax to make sure invoices are approved before payment
  • Identifying and implementing revenue recognition and cost attribution policies
  • Creating a robust financial model that allowed for scenario planning
  • Introducing month-end file processes for better financial control
  • Improving deferred revenue tracking with new schedules
  • Streamlining internal and external reporting processes
  • Establishing proper accounts reconciliation procedures
  • Providing guidance on treasury management

The most important foundational implementation was the revenue recognition model, where we defined the base recognition criteria from signed revenues.

THE RESULTS

We were thrilled to see StackOne successfully raising their $20m Series A round in May 2025. The participation came from notable investors including Workday Ventures, XTX Ventures, Episode 1, Playfair and angel investors from OpenAI, DeepMind, Microsoft and Mulesoft.

We’re proud to have supported in advance of StackOne's fundarise, including:

  • Making sure the historical records were all there and correct (like account filings and VAT recovery), helping prevent any delays or expensive remedial work.
  • By implementing a comprehensive revenue recognition framework, we helped ensure StackOne's growth story was presented as clearly as possible to investors.

By bringing in support at the right time, StackOne quickly got through the due diligence process and successfully raised their Series A round. Since then, they've continued their growth trajectory and we're excited to continue following their journey.
